At St. John’s, learning is driven by inquiry — a dynamic process that empowers students to explore the world with curiosity, critical thinking, and purpose. As part of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), our inquiry-based approach places students at the center of their learning journey, encouraging them to ask questions, investigate real-world issues, and construct meaningful understanding.
Inquiry at St. John’s is transdisciplinary, student-centered, and concept-driven. It invites learners to engage deeply with relevant topics, develop international-mindedness, and take action as compassionate, knowledgeable individuals. Our teachers act as facilitators, creating an environment where students feel safe to wonder, reflect, challenge assumptions, and pursue their interests. As part of this approach, Field Trips are organized twice a year, offering students meaningful opportunities to extend their learning beyond the classroom.
Celebrations of learning are an essential part of our program. Events such as Read Across Americas, Art & Music Festival, International Day, June Festival and Science Fair give students the opportunity to share their discoveries, showcase their talents, and reflect on their learning with peers, teachers, and families. These moments of celebration are joyful demonstrations of student agency, creativity, and collaboration.
Through inquiry, our students develop not only academic skills, but also the confidence and mindset to become active, responsible learners in a complex and ever-changing world.
